In commemorating Professor Soyinka's 90th birthday, The Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Program (WSICE), in collaboration with the Vision of The Child (VoTC), will curate a series of events beginning in June 2024.
WSICE and VOTC
Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Program (WSICE), an initiative rooted in the profound belief in the power of Literature, Arts, and Culture to honour and uphold human dignity, mainly focuses on nurturing the younger generation's potential as the stewards of tomorrow. By transcending borders of nationality, ethnicity, and creed,
WSICE cultivates a sense of unity among all people.
VoTC, the brainchild of the 1986 Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has garnered acclaim since its inception in 2012.
Initially conceived in 2002 under the banner of Art for Good Governance and Democracy, with the patronage of Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos State, VoTC evolved into a celebrated platform for education, creative and artistic expression.
The Open Door Series Project WS is an International Cultural Exchange Program that promotes human dignity through Literature, Arts, and Culture, focusing on youth empowerment and global unity. It commenced its first edition on July 13, 2010, coinciding with Professor Wole Soyinka's 76th birthday, featuring 76 stars on stage and screen honouring him at Muson Center.
Zmirage Multimedia and Global New Haven have proudly sponsored the Open Door Series Project WS. Sponsoring this program provides a unique opportunity to support a global cultural exchange initiative, including tours to Nigeria, Barbados, and London.
These tours showcase plays and essays that delve into themes of global diplomacy and national identity. As the program grows, so does the exposure for our sponsors, with subsequent editions expanding to include performances in various Nigerian states and London.
The project's highlight is the essay competition, offering secondary school students opportunities for scholarship and recognition. Winners engage in cultural exchanges and personal interactions with Professor Soyinka, reinforcing the project's goal of nurturing young minds towards positive change.
The initiative's vision emphasizes education, art, and culture as vital tools for countering fear and violence, fostering individual growth, and steering youth towards a path of progress for Nigeria and humanity.
